The event will be presented by the Orange County Homeownership Partners, including the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Trade Shows - Staff had the pleasure this week to participate in a Chamber of Commerce event called the Surf City Connection. As one of approximately 55 organizations presenting its wares atop a table in the Hilton Pavilion, Economic Development handed out project updates, information, and advice to local business people. Staff will be leaving this weekend to set up a booth at the much larger trade show hosted by the International Council of Shopping Centers at their annual Las Vegas Spring Convention. With over 800 booths and 30,000 attendees, this is one of our major efforts each year geared toward attracting businesses to Huntington Beach.
New Surf City Visa Card - In order to make our Surf City Visa card more attractive, US Bank allowed us to submit new art work. Prepared by a city staffer, our new look will be available soon on the US Bank link from the city's site, www.surfcity-hb.org, or you can see it from the link, www.usbank.com/affinitycreditcards/?loc=9443.

PUBLIC WORKS
Urban Forest Award - The Huntington Beach Tree Society recently received recognition from the Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture (WCISA). The WCISA, established in 1934, promotes and improves the practice of arboriculture. Additional goals include stimulating and promoting public interest in the planting and preservation of trees for shade and ornamental value. At the annual awards luncheon on May 3, the Huntington Beach Tree Society was recognized for Outstanding Urban Forestry Contribution to Their Community. The HB Tree Society has been very active in both seeking grants for trees, and organizing projects with various community groups to plant trees in local parks. The HB Tree Society has built an excellent working relationship with the Parks, Trees and Landscape section of Public Works. The Tree Society graciously acknowledged the efforts of the Public Works' arborists in assisting with ordering and planting of trees to enhance the city's Urban Forest.
