Loss of Nick Ekovich - The Huntington Beach Police Department is mourning the loss of retired Police Officer Nick Ekovich. Nick was found inside his Lake Arrowhead home on January 1, unfortunately he was already deceased. Nick's sister, Dee, had not heard from him for a couple of days so she called Nick's neighbor to check on him. Nick had apparently died of a heart attack. Nick will be cremated this week, and the memorial services are tentatively scheduled for Saturday, January 7. Nick retired September 17, 2003, from gunshot injuries sustained in the line of duty. He turned 59 years old on December 28. Nick will be remembered as a true hero to all of us. Nick is survived by his daughters Jenika 16 & Jenee 23, and his sisters Dee Fraser and Malice Madesh.
