The department is comprised of technical support personnel including software programmers and analysts, hardware technicians and specialists in specific technological areas. Services also provided outside normal business hours in support of the Library and Public Safety departments. The four Information Services divisions are: Administration, Operations, Communications, and Systems.
Mission
The City of Huntington Beach Information Services Department's mission is to maintain a high quality, customer focused Information Services organization by:
- Reducing the energy consumption of the city's technology equipment. View energy reduction initiative
- Providing leadership in the evaluation of new and enhanced technology to support City programs and services
- Providing technology consulting expertise in support of City projects
- Providing professional growth opportunities for our staff
- Partnering with City departments to ensure the most efficient delivery of programs and services to the community
Department responsibilities include:
- Developing, maintaing and enhancing the city's web site.
- Researching, designing implementing, and supporting voice and data system software and hardware and networks;
- Providing security, storage and virus protection for all business data;
- Planning for and maintaining disaster recovery to ensure continuation of critical business functions;
- Providing help desk support services for telephone and computer system users;
- Providing technology instruction to employees.
- Providing maps and graphs to various Departments to better service the community.

This broadcast enhancement will allow access to those who do not subscribe to cable or who wish to watch meetings when away from home. Viewers of archived meeting may also "jump to" a specific agendized item of interest with the click of a mouse. Webcam gives a live view of Pier and Downtown
If you are thinking about heading to the beach, check the current live beach conditions on this website before you leave. The City of Huntington Beach has added a live webcam feature to the website.
To access the webcam, click on "Residents" or "Visitors" and then go to Beach Information. This feature will allow anyone around the world with Internet access to observe downtown Huntington Beach, the entire Pier, and the surf. The webcam is attached to the Lifeguard Tower on the Huntington Beach Pier and provides a panoramic view to anyone accessing the site. Viewers can control the camera's direction, and can also zoom in on a preferred location or scene.
Also, if you are interested in surf conditions and the weather, the webcam page will provide this additional information. The current water temperature, wind direction and speed, surf height, tides, and air pressure are updated daily.
