When I moved from the Los Angeles area to HB, one of the first things I did was visit Main Street during the weekly street fair. After spending years visiting Santa Monica’s Promenade and the Boardwalk on Venice Beach, I can say that the Surf City Nights Street Fair is my new favorite. This street fair is classier, better defined, and even more inviting than those other beach streets. Not to mention, I felt a million times safer here than I did at other street fairs, safe enough to actually come down here by myself. My favorite time was the first time I brought my bulldog puppy down. She loved playing with all the other dogs at the street fair, how nice everyone was to her, and she definitely loved how generous all the staff are at the local restaurants on the patio with treats. I love all the specials from the restaurants. My new goal is to sample a beer from every location. I also love being able to stock up on fruits and veggies from the Farmer’s Market at night, instead of having to get up at sunrise on a weekend morning like most Farmer’s Markets. My absolute favorite thing though, is after filling up on food and beer, I can end my night walking on the beach or sitting with friends at a beach bonfire. Now that doesn’t happen just anywhere.
