General Information
On November 7, 2006, voters approved the construction of a new senior center in Huntington Central Park (HCP). The building will be approximately 45,000 square feet, which is equivalent to approximately one acre. The entire site, including landscaping, building, and parking, will encompass five acres. The five-acre parcel is located on an undeveloped section of HCP that is fourteen acres in size. The proposed site is on the west side of Goldenwest Street north of the HCP Disc Golf Course.
Proposed Senior Center Draft EIR Comment Period Opens
The forty five day public review and comment period for the proposed senior center draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) opened on September 17, 2007 and will close on October 31, 2007. During the comment period interested parties will have the opportunity to comment on the content of the draft EIR. A public comment meeting will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 6:00 pm in Room C/D of the Huntington Central Library.

Council on Aging Senior Center Committee
On January, 2, 2007, the City Council directed the Council on Aging (COA), which is an advisory body to the City Council on matters relating to senior citizens to provide input regarding design criteria for the new Senior Center. The committee has conducted several meetings and the public may access the meeting agendas and minutes at the site below.
The goal of the committee is to have design criteria recommendations available for the design consultant by mid-February. Once the consultant has prepared preliminary plans for the new center, the committee and the public will have the opportunity to review and provide comments.
