The Huntington Center subarea is the city's second largest at 160 acres. It is composed exclusively of commercial uses.
Bella Terra
The former Huntington Center has been redeveloped into Bella Terra, a regional life-stye entertainment center that is quickly accessed by I-405 freeway, Beach Boulevard and Edinger Avenue. Bella Terra is a Tuscan-themed village with restaurants and cafes surrounding an outdoor amphitheater providing 772,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment for the whole family. Current tenants include an 10-screen stadium seating Century Theatre complex, Kohl's department store, Burlington Coat Factory, Mervyn's, See's Candies, Macaroni Grill, Barnes & Noble, Starbucks, Circuit City and Staples. New restaurants on the scene are California Pizza Kitchen and Islands. The Cheesecake Factory will open this summer. Bella Terra Associates, LLC acquired the property in late 2005. The approximate 1,532 public parking facility offers free parking and is easily accessed from Center Avenue. As the ownership of the old Montgomery Wards site was not transferred until recently, the redevelopment of that section of the site has been delayed. Now that Jh Snyder has purchased the property, development discussions have commenced.
