In an effort to decentralize our police services from the main station into the community, several neighborhood substations were developed.
The Oakview Sub-station is located at the North West corner of Beach and Slater and is staffed by Officers Preece and Wersching. The substation is also staffed by and Retired Senior Volunteers (R.S.V.P.'s) on occassion. The police sub station is used as a center to hold community meetings, take crime reports and to assist the public. It is also used by officers in patrol as a quiet place to finish police reports or eat lunch. The team is responsible for activity within the Oakview Community. The Oakview Substation is staffed during the following hours:
Monday through Friday 9:00 to 4: 00 P.M.
Thursday and Friday evenings 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
The phone numbers for the Oakview substation are: 714-536-5218 714-536-5229
The Downtown Substation is located in the heart of the downtown area, at 5th and Walnut Streets. It is located in the historically significant "Shank House." In fact, the building itself has become somewhat of a tourist draw, with many people asking for tours on a weekly basis. The South Substation is staffed seven days a week by the Special Enforcement Team , or members of our Volunteers In Police Service (V.I.P.S.) and Retired Senior Volunteer programs. The goal of the department is to make the substations as close to full-service (as the main station) as possible. Members of the public may stop in during the hours of operation to request police services, ask questions, or simply talk to a police officer.
The Downtown Substation is Staffed by volunteer Dave Robertson during the following hours:
Monday- Thursday 7:30 to 4:00 P.M.
The phone numbers for the Downtown substation are: 714-536-5218
714-536-5229
