SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS

There are two officers presently assigned to the school resource program:

Officer V. Shroyer and Officer D. Young

School Resource OfficerThe school resource officers are responsible for handling crimes that occur on or about school campuses of all grade levels. There are 44 schools in the city of Huntington Beach. Officer Young usually responds to the needs of the South schools and Officer Shroyer usually responds to the schools in the North part of town.

The officers handle criminal investigations as well as crimes in progress. The officers are a resource for school administrators and supervision personnel. They can assist them in determining if and when a crime has been committed at school.

Officers Young and Shroyer also assist with teen intervention programs and truancy enforcement.

The school resource officers are also available for their peers at the police department due to the many contacts they have at the school.

Officer D. Young has been a police officer for 7 years, working a variety of assignments.

Officer Shroyer has been a police officer for over 16 years. Before Huntington Beach, she worked various units in L.A.P.D. She has been working for the city of Huntington Beach for over 8 years.
