The Strand - Downtown Huntington Beach
The Strand - Downtown Huntington Beach (also known as Blocks 104 & 105) will occupy 3.5 acres extending from 6th Street to Main Street and fronting Pacific Coast Highway, with views of the ocean, and opposite the famous Huntington Beach Pier. Upon completion the project will include a 130-room hotel, approximately 115,000sf of retail shops, 15,000 sf of office space and 40,000 sf of new restaurants. The Redevelopment Agency approved a Disposition and Development Agreement with CIM Group. In the predevelopment phase, this project is anticipated to be open in Summer 2004. Fronting Pacific Coast Highway at First Street in the downtown, this 31 acre site will be a retail center with entertainment and restaurant uses facing the beach and office, hospitality and residential uses on the back portion of the site. The Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort
Completed in 1990, this hotel provides 296 rooms in a twelve-story tower with 15,000 square feet of meeting and ballroom space, a restaurant, pool and fitness center. The hotel generates about $350,000 in property tax, about one million dollars in bed tax and about $74,000 in sales tax each year.
Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Conference Center
On 38 acres along Pacific Coast Highway, the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach, Resort & Spa, provides 517 rooms in a new Hyatt Regency hotel, a 50,000 net square foot conference center, 12,000 square feet of retail, a fitness center and spa. A 300-room third hotel is planned as a future phase. The Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa officially opened on January 30, 2003. Over the next 34 years the project is estimated to generate over $89 million in property tax, $25 million in bed tax and $12.3 million in sales tax. The complex will employ over 1,000 people.
| Plaza Almeria The California Redevelopment Association selected Plaza Almeria as a recipient of the 2002 CRA Award of Excellence in the mixed-use project category. This project, pictured below, occupies a full block of Main Street, three blocks from Pacific Coast Highway. It contains 30,000 square feet of retail and 10,000 square feet of office. Pierside Pavilion
Completed in 1990, this project includes retail, restaurant and office uses at the corner of Main St. and Pacific Coast Highway. It generates about $215,000 in property tax and about $77,000 in sales tax each year. For leasing information call 714.374.0222.
Oceanview Promenade
Also at the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street, this retail and office building is the home of "Jack's Surfboards." Duke's/Chimayo's Tropical Grill
These restaurants are located in a new 15,000 square foot building adjacent to the pier. The city owns the building and the tenants pay a minimum rent of $250,000 plus 4-7 percent of the gross sales, a possessory interest tax roughly equivalent to property tax and sales tax of approximately $70,000 per year.
Municipal Pier and Pier Plaza
The city's new pier is the longest in California at 1,856 feet. At its base is Pier Plaza, a public space composed of a 230-seat amphitheater, a mural depicting the city's past and stairs to the beach and lawn. The pier cost $12 million while the plaza (and adjacent restaurants) cost $6.6 million.
